If your a Aweber Customer, you should realize you have one of the greatest e-mail marketing tools you could ever ask for.

What is it?

Unsubscribe Feedback. By simply enabling Notifications on the List Settings Page:

Aweber

When a lead unsubscribes they can leave feedback or a reason why. This feedback could be worth more than losing a lead. Of course not every one will leave a comment, but the ones that do are leaving gold for you. Chances are it will not be positive, but thats a good thing, you’ll know what your doing wrong and change it.

Recently I signed up for a couple of giveaway events. What surprised me is how many of the e-mails from these marketers ended up in my Gmail spam folder, more than I would have thought.

Do you test your messages before they go out? Sure most auto responder services let you test to get past the spam filters. You do have to wonder just how accurate they are, you know the filters are always changing.

Do you have a Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail account? Test accounts to verify your e-mails make it into the Inbox and not the spam folder.

I guess you could say, thats too much work, you’ll take your chance. Then again maybe there is a good chance people will see your messages in the spam folder? Not a chance I want to take. How about you?

As email marketers, the last thing we want are spam complaints. As i’ve mentioned in other posts, there will ALWAYS be people that complain your spamming them. You could have double opt-in and there will still be some folks who some how think you spammed them. There are also people that forget they even signed up for your list.

This can often happen when with give away type leads, same for co-registration with many different participants. Think about it for a minute. If your a surfer signing up for all kinds of freebies, will you remember every one of those you signed up for? I probably would’nt. I personally only sign up for offers that I am really interested. You know though, there are probably quite a few people out there, that sign up for every freebie they can get their hands on.

The same can be true for co-registration leads that come from sources that contain a large number of offers. Disected, it’s very similar to the above.

I am not saying either source should not be used, far from it. Both strategies can really build your list, just keep in mind, your spam compliant rate may go up.

Time has run out for me today.

Next post, some more thoughts on the subject.
