Why Amazon.com is Kicking every ones butt
Wheither you like them or not they are kicking butt and taking names in so many ways. The reality is, they really are not doing anything any other company could not do, it’s really kind of shocking.
A good case in point is one of their competitors, Barnes and Noble. I love going to a B&N real world store and spending a hour or more, along with many other worms, but when I’m looking to buy online, I’ll buy from Amazon, sorry Barnes and Noble. It’s mainly the price, your buying the exact same product, why should I pay more? They both deliver quickly without problems.
It’s not price I’m talking about in this post, it’s the huge differences online between the two, the big differences in their selling process.
Amazon has customer reviews for most any product they sell, and many times, far more pages than you’d like to read. Every one has an opinion and some reviewers do not see the same as I do, but It’s nice to get a feel about a product, or a general idea if the product is good or bad.
Actually Amazon is always asking me for reviews for products I’ve purchased, same as they do for every customer. Ask and Ye Shall Receive. I see few if any reviews on B&N. Sad. I’m sure Amazon also knows the whole process powers their “community”. Smart.
Most of the e-mails Amazon sends me, contains products related to what I’ve purchased in the past, or have viewed on the site. Just about every e-mail I get from B&N is trying to sell me stuff I have no interest in, or they are just a general, “Here’s whats on sale”. Not much targeting there.
Every time I visit Amazon, they show me products related, again, to what I’ve purchased or viewed from previous visits. Not so with the competition. They also show numerous related products every time I view something, can you say upsell?
While they have a highly sophisticated selling system, it’s nothing any one else could not do if they had the resources. I’m sure B&N has enough change in their pockets.
What could you do that’s better than your competition? What do they lack?
We’ve all seen or heard the success stories about people who build a tremendous business just because they did something better.
What about you?
